Witt/Kieffer has been retained by UT Health San Antonio to identify a dynamic physician executive to serve as its Chief Health Informatics Officer (CHIO).
As the only health science center in the country with a NCI Cancer Center, NIH Aging Center and NIH CTSI award, UT Health San Antonio is well position to combine scientific discovery with clinical care in innovative, transformative ways. UT Health San Antonio is a highly engaged clinical community with a faculty practice plan of over 850 physicians and advanced practice providers as well as strong collaborations with regional hospital partners. The health system is fully engaged in developing its population health capabilities and the CHIO will be a key leader and contributor in those efforts.
The CHIO will report to the Executive Director, UT Health Physicians, who functions as the chief executive for the faculty practice plan. The CHIO will have a close, collaborative relationship with the Chief Information Officer, Chief Quality Officer and other leaders in the organization. As the leading IT physician executive, the CHIO will be a visible, innovative, proactive, and forward-thinking leader in a health system that has been consistently recognized for providing world-class patient care throughout the region.
The successful candidate must have an M.D. or D.O. and maintain a small percent of time in clinical practice. Formal informatics training is not required, but value added. At least five years of progressive experience in an informatics leadership role in an integrated delivery system is preferred.
