Sutter Health has a long history as a California Institution. Some of our facilities have been providing care in the communities we serve for more than 100 years. The Sutter of Today started in 1996 as the merger of the Sacramento-based Sutter Health and the Bay Area-based California Healthcare System and we now have 23 acute care facilities in Norther California. The Sutter Medical Network was created in 2007 to bring physicians across the Northern California healthcare delivery system together to advance the quality, consistency and affordability of care for Sutter patients. With over 5,000 primary care doctors and specialists in medical foundations and aligned Independent Practice Associations, the Sutter Medical Network has a presence in dozens of cities and towns across Northern California–from Sonoma County to the Central Valley, and from Santa Cruz to the Mother Lode foothills.
