This role will spend approximately 60 percent working on informatics, and 40 percent working in a clinical setting.
The Associate Chief Medical Informatics Officer provides physician leadership to matters of Clinical Informatics across Legacy Health. Works to integrate services within Clinical Informatics to maximize efficiency and quality. Works collaboratively with physicians, nurses and other clinical staff and leadership to develop and further the vision and strategies of Legacy Health. Communicates clear, expectations of results and assists with the resolution of complex issues and problems.
The Associate CMIO is integral to the optimization and maintenance of Legacy’s electronic health record and clinical information systems. Applies the use of information technology in the execution of health care delivery. Serves as a liaison to the Medical Staff and Legacy Medical Group toward the development, implementation and support of clinical information systems and technology related to the delivery of patient care. Participates in the development of technology strategy, systems design, process design and training, and also participates in an ongoing quality assurance for all health information related data and processes. Strong emphasis is placed on the following outcomes: lead provider informaticists and provider Epic tutors in informatics best practices, instill a practice of analytics and metrics driven change and subsequent monitoring, technology related strategic planning, technology related policy and procedure formation, planning and implementation of clinical information and related systems.
MD or DO degree. Board certification in Clinical Informatics required. Fellowship completion, master’s, or PhD in clinical, medical, or biomedical informatics preferred.
History of clinical practice for at least 5 years after completing residency. Three years’ experience, at least at the 0.25 FTE level, in clinical systems implementation and process redesign and knowledge of clinical work flow in inpatient and ambulatory settings. Extensive knowledge of electronic health records technology in a hospital and ambulatory setting. Experience using Epic is preferred.
