Witt/Kieffer has been retained to conduct the search, Chief Medical Information Officer (CMIO) for The University of Rochester Medical Center (URMC), located in Rochester, New York. This is a unique opportunity at one of the most respected healthcare and research institutions in the U.S. The CMIO is a system-level position that will lead informatics across the seven hospital, $2 billion academic health enterprise and report to the Chief Medical Officer with a dotted line to the Chief Information Officer.
The CMIO is responsible for providing overall direction and leadership for clinical information systems utilization and optimization, as well as related patient care process improvement, and interpretation of data and informatics methods and techniques. URMC has been on Epic for almost a decade. The CMIO will lead certain committees and also serve as the information systems representative to institutional clinical boards and committees.
The CMIO educates, involves and supports physicians and other users of clinical information regarding the purposes and functions of the clinical information systems. The CMIO is responsible for supporting the development, implementation and use of clinical information systems to assist clinicians in the delivery of highest quality, and quality patient care. The CMIO will interface with members of operations and administration, both at the system level and the local member organization level, to translate clinician requirements into specifications for new and/or evolving clinical support and research systems.
URMC seeks a board certified, licensed physician with a history of medical practice. Experience with medical informatics, clinical transformation and change management associated with the introduction of IT to clinical culture is essential. He/she should have clinical process redesign experience using clinical information systems. Clinical Informatics advanced education is preferred but is not required.
