• CMIO – Cook Children’s Health Care System

Cook Children’s Health Care System seeks a dynamic physician executive to serve as its next Chief Medical Information Officer (CMIO). The CMIO, along with other senior leaders at Cook Children’s, will significantly impact the health system and the community they serve. This role is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned informatics leader to take on a high-level leadership role within a leading, and growing, children’s hospital in the United States.

Reporting directly to the Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer, Theresa Meadows, MS, RN, the CMIO will be the bridge between IT and the clinical community to advance informatics and technology to meet the needs of clinicians and the pediatric community they serve. The CMIO will develop and implement the informatics strategy and operational plan. They will leverage analytics in the system to improve clinical operations and patient outcomes. One area of particular focus will be on leveraging data and implementing new systems and processes to improve clinican wellness and ensure high-quality and innovative care across the pediatric environment.

The CMIO will continue to develop best practices and be a key leader in the optimization of the Epic EHR system. The CMIO will lead an ACMIO, Medical Directors and physician champions to prioritize informatics initiatives that will most effectively meet the strategic goals of the organization. The CMIO will collaborate with clinical application peers in the development of education and at-the-elbow support for physicians across the organization. They will need to be a strong leader that can embed themselves in the clinical setting, building strong partnerships and credibility to push new initiatives forward. This person will need to be a skilled change agent who can build consensus but also maintain momentum when there are competing priorities.

The incoming CMIO must be committed to providing world-class clinical care to the pediatric populations the organization serves. They will work directly with senior leadership, physicians, nurses, technology leaders and others on initiatives to improve the lives of the patient population. Located in one of the country’s fastest-growing metropolitan areas, the CMIO will have the opportunity to establish partnerships with regional and national informatics collaborators.

The CMIO must be compelled by the Cook Children’s mission. The CMIO should bring a passion for healthcare and technology, a willingness to invest in the community, along with a drive to continue making improvements in support of providing the best possible patient care to every child at the bedside and beyond. The incoming CMIO must have an M.D. or D.O. with a robust background in clinical practice. Current clinical practice is not required but would be a plus.
