Witt/Kieffer has been retained by Inova Health System (Inova) to find a visionary physician executive to serve as its Chief Health Informatics Officer (CHIO).
Inova is a not-for-profit health care system based in Northern Virginia that serves more than two million people per year from throughout the Washington DC, metro area and beyond. Inova consists of five hospitals with 1,800 licensed beds and 18,000 employees. Inova is also home to the nationally and internationally recognized Inova Heart and Vascular Institute (IHVI), Inova Schar Cancer Institute, Inova Translational Medicine Institute focused on genomics research, Inova Neuroscience and Spine Institute and Inova Children’s Hospital.
The CHIO is a critical role for the health system and will partner closely with the Chief Physician Executive, Chief Information Officer (CIO) and other executives to lead informatics throughout the $3 billion health system. The CHIO is both a strategic and tactical leader in the health system. The incoming CHIO is essential in developing and communicating ongoing informatics initiatives to engage, educate and develop clinicians around the Epic EMR and continual use of technology to improve patient care, quality and costs. The CHIO has a team and budget.
The ideal candidate must be a servant leader that believes his/her best work can be accomplished in a high-quality and high-functioning health system where there is a strong commitment to growth. He/she has the ability to work in close partnership with the diverse clinical and IT communities within the health system. The CHIO must have a Medical Degree from an accredited institution with board certification in his/her clinical specialty.
