• Medical Director, Informatics – Children’s National Health System (CNHS)

    Reporting to the Vice President, CMIO and CIO, the Medical Director of Informatics will assist the VP, CMIO and CIO to ensure the adoption and optimization of the health information technology (IT) platform across the organization to ensure maximum value is derived from these investments. Will also work closely with the Ambulatory and Inpatient CMOs, VP of Quality and Safety and physician and nursing leaders across the organization

     

    Additional Responsibilities:

    • Provide reviews of medical informatics experiences and approaches
    • Develop health IT technical and application adoption strategies
    • Ensure successful implementation of advanced clinical information systems
    • Assist in the development of strategic plans for health IT systems
    • Develop and track value metrics around these health IT investments in the areas of care delivery, quality, safety, compliance and research

     

    Requires:

    • Medical Doctor (advanced degree desired)
    • Three years of experience in medical informatics
    • Licensed Physician with recent Medical practice experience
    • Eligible for Board Certification in Clinical Informatics

    Leadership

    • Lead the adoption of health IT systems across the organization (hospitals, clinics, physicians’ offices, ancillary and therapy units) to embody an information model focused upon the diagnosis, treatment and process data required in future treatment and preventative care
    • Engage providers with varying roles including independent and employed physicians and clinicians, medical records professionals and clinical analysts to contribute to the development and use for the health IT platform, business intelligence and clinical analytic tools
    • Stay attuned to the national efforts to develop a comprehensive, functional, interoperable and uniform medical records, and take an active role in areas where the national effort and healthcare system can mutually benefit
    • Respond to end-user needs, include training, to ensure widespread adoption/acceptance use of the health IT platform

     

    Support

    • Ensure work efforts support both optimal care delivery, quality, safety and clinical research
    • Assist in the design and monitoring of the effectiveness of workflow-integrated decision support for clinician
    • Assist in efforts to optimize patient access, throughput, engagement and satisfaction using health information technology
    • Support electronic networks, strong interoperability and population health efforts

     

    Coordinate efforts with the Bear Institute

    • Evaluate gaps and identify needs to achieve a successful organizational approach to health IT
