Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS), an affiliate of Weill Cornell Medical College, continually holds the rank as the nation’s most advanced and prestigious orthopedic hospital in the United States. With over 325 medical staff, HSS performs more than 29,000 procedures yearly while serving 330,000 outpatients. HSS is known internationally for its clinical breakthroughs in all areas of orthopedics. The Healthcare Research Institute rigorously investigates the delivery of care to patients within HSS to improve outcomes through applied and clinical research that will positively affect patient safety, quality of life, and costs.
The Director, Healthcare Research Institute (Director) is a unique opportunity to work in the nation’s top orthopedic hospital and to use leading-edge analytics to drive the development of a learning health care delivery system. The Director will lead the biostatistics, data analytics, and registries cores in the organization while providing a vision for using HSS’ vast data warehouse to develop research that will improve outcomes. The Director will develop HRI into an academic department including the recruitment of faculty, staff, and the continued development of resources. The position reports dually to the Chief Scientific Officer and Chief Value Medical Officer.
The ideal candidate will have an extensive background in academic research and leadership with a strong history of quality contributions to outcomes research, analytics, and population health. An M.D., Ph.D., or comparable degree is required. The Director must be able to collaborate across a complex multi-disciplinary facility with a unique blend of scientists, clinicians, and hospital management. Previous experience leading research within an orthopedic environment is a plus, but not a requirement.Leave a reply →
